Strategic Leadership, Operations and Management 

Operational planning and management 

  • Participate with the Board of Directors, staff and other stakeholders in developing a vision, mission and strategic plan to guide the organization.  Present the final strategic plan to the Board for approval
  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization. 
  • Provide support to the Board by preparing meeting agenda and supporting materials. 
  • Serve on all committees. Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare meeting agenda (if requested by Chair) minutes, and supporting materials. 
  • Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organization policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend  changes to the board as appropriate

Development / Fundraising, Financial Planning and Management 

  • Prepare and manage a comprehensive budget (approximately $300k) with the assistance of the president and treasurer
  • Strategize and work in coordination with the organization’s contracted grant writer tosuccessfully secure grant funding 
  • Research and successfully secure additional grant/funding opportunities
  • Develop and oversee the execution of other fundraising efforts including, but not limited to membership drives, annual fundraisers, and fundraising events 
  • Implement a legacy/planned giving program 
  • Nurture and develop relationships with existing and potential patrons 
  • Work with the board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization (sponsorships and grants) 
  • Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization 
  • Provide the board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the organization                                                                                                                                                                                           

Programs, Events, Member Services, Marketing & Public Relations

Program planning and management 

  • Oversee and provide direction in the program manager’s planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization's programs and events 

Member and Volunteer services and recruitment

  • Monitor and improve as needed communication procedures for all current members and volunteers
  • Welcome new members and volunteers 
  • Grow membership and nurture volunteers 

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Oversee the planning and implementation of all marketing items including social media, website, advertisements, e-newsletters and press coverage as executed by the communications manager. 

Community Relations/Advocacy

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization 
  • Represent the organization at community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile 
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, elected officials, and other organizations to help achieve the mission of the organization 

Administration and Human Resources 

Human resources planning and management 

  • Determine staffing requirements for organization management and program delivery 
  • Recruit, interview and select staff 
  • Work with the head of departments in managing staff
  • Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance 
  • Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job description for all staff 

Facilities Management  & Information Technology 

  • Oversee and work with the appropriate individuals as needed to insure the facilities are operating and maintained to expected standards
  • ¬∑Oversee and work with the appropriate individuals as needed to insure that all I.T. concerns, both software and hardware, are maintained and functioning to expected standards.                                                                                                  

Event management 

  • Plan and organize with staff and volunteers events other than gallery exhibitions.  Lead t he efforts as needed for successful outcomes. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers and venues
  • Planning event details and aspects, including sponsorships, marketing, vendors and guests 
  • Creating reliable financial reports 
  • Remaining under budget with all costs 
  • Managing events and addressing potential problems that may arise 

Risk management

  •  Ensure that the Board of Directors and the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance coverage 

Open Wednesday - Sunday  10 am - 4 pm.
Closed Monday and Tuesday
