Plein Air Painting during Palo Verde Tree Festival
The Palo Verde tree is surely “Borrego’s tree”, with its distinctive green bark, elegant branches, and a canopy of yellow flowers that splash across the desert sky and carpet the ground in gold during April of each year. What a perfect time to take a Plein Air class while the town turns yellow! Plein Air painting with oil with talented Jessica Schiffman!
Jessica will take the students to a beautiful location in Borrego Springs and paint two or more landscape paintings in this 2 or 3-day class. Teaching through demonstrations and explaining the steps of the system she uses. Emphasis is on composition, shadow patterns, contrast, color intensity, color temperature, painting alla prima (wet into wet), and perspective, creating the illusion of depth. There will be plenty of Individual instruction and some group critiques in an informal and supportive atmosphere.
This 2 or 3-day class is from 8 to 5. With a lunch break from 12:00 - 1:00 (or longer, light is less interesting in the middle of the day)
Minimum of 4 students and a max of 12 students.
All skill levels are welcome.
The class is at the Borrego Art Institute
665 Palm Canyon Drive (at Christmas Circle) Borrego Springs CA 92004
You will paint outside on a location that Jessica will select.
