About Us. Built to showcase talented artists, and get people excited about art, Borrego Art Institute (BAI) is an architectural gem in the heart of Borrego Springs. The BAI attracts people from around town, around the country, and around the world, all of whom come to experience, create, and enjoy all forms of art — from pottery to gardening, painting to photography. A community resource and gathering place, our distinctive campus features the Gallery, the ArtPark, and an off-campus Pottery Studio. The BAI is also a major supporter of adult and children’s education, participation, and art appreciation. A non profit 501(c)3 organization, the BAI thrives because of hundreds of generous donors and countless volunteers.
The Gallery is a shining renovation of a 68-year-old local landmark, a prime example of the new wave of California-modern architects. Step inside, and you’ll be inspired by open space, beautiful views, and art – lots of art. Look around and be intrigued by the artists’ visions and discover your own inspiration.
A surefire way to get excited about art is to get involved! There are plenty of volunteer opportunities here, from planning monthly show openings to taking care of the desk, hanging shows, and gardening at The ArtPark. You could also take classes or a workshop. And we’d love to have you as a member.
Delight in new discoveries. Visit The Gallery, The ArtPark and ThePottery to see the latest exhibits, endeavors, and plans. Come to a show opening and enjoy meeting artists and kindred spirits.

We believe that people get excited when they are exposed to a variety of art forms. Imaginations soar higher — the thrill of artistic discovery excites the spirit.
We believe that artistic surprise is one of life’s most
delightful elements. That is the gift of art – an insight to unexpected points
of view. Surprising artistic discoveries are good for all of us.
We believe the Borrego Art Institute is a vital community asset, providing space and a beautiful sense of place for sharing artistic endeavors and exploring what art can teach us.

Our Future Plans for BAI
After years of planning, BAI is nearing construction on the newest addition to the ArtPark, The Pavilion. This multipurpose building is designed to house classroom space, an outdoor kitchen, pottery studio, gift shop, and covered gardens. In conjunction with the ever-expanding campus, The Pavilion will promote hands-on creativity while providing education, fresh produce, culinary instruction, entertainment, and a pottery studio for community members and Borrego Springs visitors alike.
The ArtPark Pavilion is a culmination of many years of dreaming and planning to create something truly magical for the community. The BAI board, volunteers, and supporters are thrilled to be able to bring such an incredible asset to Borrego Springs.
