Celebrating the Summer Show
May 8 - September 26, 2021

Art of all subject matter and mediums make up this diversified, and enjoyable Summer Show. It is an exciting exhibition that will continuously rotate new entries to keep it fresh and worthy of a visit during the hot summer months.

"Gettin' Along" by Major Morris
May 8 - September 26, 2021
A collection of 42 documentary photographs by Major Morris. (1921-2016) As a photographer in the 1960s, he captured scenes of inner-city life and protest marches. And after the Civil Rights era, he earned a master’s degree from Harvard University and became an educator; training teachers in diversity and cultural sensitivity and working as a university affirmative action officer.

The Gift Shop in the Gallery is another popular attraction and has been compared to the finest museum shops in the country. The unique one-of-a-kind art pieces and jewelry are created by artists local to region and new work comes in on a regular basis to tempt shoppers to return often to find that special treasure for themselves or as a gift.

What better venue for an artist to exhibit their work than in our beautiful gallery. We encourage artists of all levels to consider presenting their work for consideration to a show that fits their theme or medium. We are adamant that all work be presented with a professional look: clean, in good condition, ready for hanging or displaying on a pedestal. Wall art must have wire on the back for our hook and cable system of hanging. We will be happy to instruct you on the proper method of installing wire.

We hang around eleven shows a year, of which only two are by invitation only, our annual Plein Air Invitational and our show of Abstract Art in November. For the other shows, artists should go to the Information for Artists page to read about the show's requirements and then send their information and images of their work to gallery@borregoartinstitute.org. If accepted, an entry form will be emailed to the artist. Those artists who show with us regularly only need to let us know that they will be entering and the size of their work.

Members of the Borrego Art Institute are not charged an entry fee. Non-members will pay a nominal fee for their entry.
