The Borrego Art Institute is a nonprofit organization that’s here to inspire and enrich the Borrego Springs community. People come here to experience, create, and enjoy all art forms — from pottery to gardening, painting to photography. Our distinctive campus features the Gallery and the ArtPark gardens as well as an off-campus pottery studio. The BAI is a community resource and gathering place and a major supporter of adult and children’s education, participation and art appreciation. Please join us for classes, workshops, shows, and other events, and become a member. Whether you are an artist, a Borrego Springs resident, a visitor, an art lover, or simply a curious explorer, we look forward to welcoming you!
We have raised $70,000! Thank you to all who donated!
Your donation will help the BAI:
“Postcards From The Land Of Yod”
The exhibition will feature over 30 signed and framed limited edition archival gicleé prints available for purchase, as well as a few other surprises.
Visitors to the North Gallery will be given exclusive access to a virtual "Media Lounge" accessible via a QR Code.
It will feature personal stories, spoken word commentary, and videos from Miranda Remington’s life and travels. You'll learn the story behind the title, what it means to her, and how it took 30 years for Miranda to find her muse! May 7 - Oct 2.
“Celebrating The Summer Show”
Art of all subject matter and mediums will be coming in all summer, replacing art that is sold. May 7 - Oct 2.
Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Gallery is Closed
Monday through Thursday
Seasonal vegetables are available weekly at the ArtPark. The gardens provide bumper crops of squash, onions, salad greens, Swiss chard, herbs, eggplant, peaches, apples, and figs in season.
These super-fresh herbs and veggies are the best deal in town at $5 a bag on Friday mornings.
OUR COMPOST PROGRAM:
Turn your leftover vegetable peelings, bread, coffee grounds, and other kitchen scraps directly into compost that goes back into the Community Gardens. Healthy soil is a major part of growing in a desert environment, and your kitchen scraps help make it possible. Dropping off compostable material at the ArtPark is quick and easy, and volunteers are happy to share more about the compost program next time you stop by the ArtPark.
Become a Table Sponsor
Stainless Steel Sign With Your Personal Message
Please contact the BAI if you are interested in becoming a full or partial table sponsor. With a full-table sponsorship of $1,000, you can add a name plate to one of the beautifully designed tables, which are constructed to last a lifetime. It’s a great way to commemorate loved ones!
THE POTTERY STUDIO
Clay can be purchased and the use of a slab roller is possible. Contact Ginger Dunlap-Dietz to get access to the studio. Cell: 760-397-5421
The studio will reopen mid-October.
The 2021/2022 pottery season has ended. Seven teachers offered a total of 10 classes, plus private lessons including wheel throwing, hand building, tile sign making, raku firing, and saggar firing. Our kiln worked overtime and will be getting new elements installed to rejuvenate its firing power. The temperatures are heating up and many of our potters have returned to their summer homes.
I wish to thank all of our teachers: Jack Sims, Jackson Gray, Lynn Dee, Hasuyo Miller, Pierre Bounaud, Heather Spontak, and Ginger Dunlap-Dietz for all their hard work, commitment, and belief that working with clay can enrich the lives of their students.
And thank you to all of the students and regular open studio members for supporting ThePottery. We could not exist without you.
