The Borrego Art Institute is a nonprofit organization that’s here to inspire and enrich the Borrego Springs community. People come here to experience, create, and enjoy all art forms — from pottery to gardening, painting to photography. Our distinctive campus features the Gallery and the ArtPark gardens as well as an off-campus pottery studio. The BAI is a community resource and gathering place and a major supporter of adult and children’s education, participation and art appreciation. Please join us for classes, workshops, shows, and other events, and become a member. Whether you are an artist, a Borrego Springs resident, a visitor, an art lover, or simply a curious explorer, we look forward to welcoming you!

The Art of Flora and Fauna
October 2 - 31, 2021

Artistic work in a variety of mediums celebrating the wonderful plants and animals of our world. From the beginning of time, nature has been mankind’s muse when creating art. Its nurturing, enriching cycle of life is an endless inspiration for artists.

"The Silent Guitar"

by Sharif Carter
“The Silent Guitar” is a collection of paintings featuring a flamenco dancer wanted by law set in the desert heat of Old World Spain with the sky set ablaze with brilliant oranges, yellows, and reds. Her flowing red dress embodies her sass and sex appeal, and a low-hanging Andalusian hat conceals her identity. The loose brushstrokes and abstract guitars represent Sharif’s love of music and his defiance to follow traditional rules both in life and his painting technique.

Become a Table Sponsor
Twenty-six concrete tables have been added to the center of town, starting at ArtPark and continuing west along Palm Canyon Drive to The Mall. The tables provide a peaceful place to rest or enjoy a meal and have been a great addition to town.

Please contact the BAI if you are interested in becoming a full or partial table sponsor. With a full-table sponsorship of $1,000, you can add a name plate to one of the beautifully designed tables, which are constructed to last a lifetime. It’s a great way to commemorate loved ones!

Fresh Greens at ArtPark! Vegetables are available for sale most Fridays. Mostly mixed bags, stuffed full for $5!

Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are the driving force of the garden. As an individual or as part of a corporate volunteer group YOU can make a difference.  Small projects take an hour and large projects take a weekend - join the fun!

Email the ArtFarm@BorregoArtInstitute or call Wade (760) 767-5152 for information.

The relaxing environment in our pottery studio encourages creative freedom. You’ll get inspired by being with others who love what they are doing.

The Summer Months Ahead

Ours is an outdoor studio, which is wonderful to work at on a beautiful day in Borrego Springs. But, when it gets hot, working there becomes challenging. Even so, we'll make sure the studio is accessible to members. You can still  purchase clay, and use the slab roller and extruder, and limited firings will continue when we have cooler nights.

Rent a Wheel

The pottery studio has several Shimpo VL Lite wheels available to rent for $75 per month during the very hot summer months. At 50 pounds each, they are relatively easy to move.

We’re planning a full calendar of classes and workshops for the 2021/2022 season.
Stay tuned!

Email Jill for information on how to become a pottery member: tgsjas@gmail.com.

Open Tuesday - Sunday, from 10 am - 4 pm.
